FINALLY we're here in Namibia!
During our 13 hour lay-over in London, we had the blessing of touring the city and seeing the London Bridge, Big Ben, going to church at Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace. It was wonderful - so much rich history. The best layover I have had yet. :) I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
Now, we're here. After South Africa, we flew into Windhouk, Namibia, where Mick Rineer met us. Customs went fairly smoothly (the only problem was my visa. It was only approved for 10 weeks, just a few days longer than my planned stay. Please pray for a flight on time!)
We have felt so welcomed by the missionary family, the Rineers. They are an incredible family (see picture in earlier post), with multiple adopted children, three of their own, and one more adoption in the process. The stories their family has to tell are enthralling and heart-breaking. I can't understand how they live in the constant ache, yet their joy is tangible. What a privilege it will be to serve alongside them.
In a few minutes, we will be on our way to a host home until the house we are sharing as a team in availible. Tomorrow we start orientation to the ministry, which will last four days. In orientation, we will learn about the history of the country which involves a lot of racism and oppression. I'm thrilled to learn more. I'm hungry to understand an dig into the culture of the country.
Thank you all again for your prayers. We are exhausted (awake now for over 46 hours, I think. Woo hoo!), but have the joy of the Lord as our strength.
So glad you arrived safe and sound. Please know we are blanketing you in prayer for rest, SAFETY, and guidance from the Holy Spirit as to your mission and deeds to be accomplished while you are there! Much love!
