Oh…teaching. What a funny thing it is.

There’s this kid, Denzen, in my grade eight A class. He’s naughty and bad-mouthed and hilarious. Today another kid was teasing him so Denzen got up and stuck his middle finger in the kids face. The whole class booed him and told me to send him to the office. As I tried not to laugh, I set his chair by my desk and told him to behave more appropriately. The other kid kept teasing him, though. So, this time, Denzen decided to cuss him out… in English. Now, this would have been a completely inappropriate situation IF he had used even one swear word correctly. He had no idea what he was saying, just that he was using English swear words. I can’t actually repeat what he said, but just for example’s sake… he said things like, “Hell you if you s*** think I’m going to let you hell away with this.” Stuff like that.

I’m not sure it’s appropriate for me to even post that online for my supporting church to read… hmmmm. Well, I know Brooks will find it funny.

I couldn’t keep my composure. I laughed and laughed and laughed. Probably shouldn’t have, but it happened. I told him through tears to leave the room and that he needed to practice his swearing if he wanted anyone to take him seriously.

On a more serious note, we had Bible study today. Only three girls could come because they are studying for exams that start Monday. We talked about abiding in the Vine and letting Him be the One who does the pruning and the bearing fruit in our lives. The girls received it well, and, as always were full of questions.

I’m loving these girls more and more every week. But today is our last one. I’m really going to miss them. Theonette still hasn’t heard from her mother. Please keep praying…

And speaking of prayer, Chandre came by today! She’s looking really healthy, too. She’s dirty still, but she’s five. What five year-old is that clean anyway? She’s getting thicker, by God’s grace. She also told me that there’s another family across the street from our house that has been giving her bread every day! Family, I write this with tears…this is such an answer to prayer! I didn’t know where she would get food after I left and I was worried that I was crippling her by making her dependent on me for food. But our Lord knows. He knows. He provides for the orphan and the widow. For Chandre. Thank you so much for praying with me. Now let’s rejoice together in knowing that our Lord has heard, He has answered, He has provided. Praise Jehovah Rapha!
