Today was just crazy busy. I think we’re trying to sqeeze in one last of everything. Which is a lot.
Classes today were good, and I received many a love note by the end of the day. One of the grade eight boys gave me a note to give to my parents. It read, “Dear mother-in-law and father-in-law…” Perfect. Actually, a lot of the notes were somewhat funny in this way. Their spelling is atrocious and their handwriting even worse. But I cherrish them. Many of them were to me and were from deep within each child. I will post what some of them said. It’s just that they make me cry when I read them and I have to leave here soon.
After school, I came home to an already very full house. Tash was baking cookies with some students, B was tutoring, and Jason was making lunch.
Thankfully, I had eleven students coming over for the suicide/depression/cutting group! To add to the chaos, there were no empty rooms. Oh, I just can’t describe it no matter how many times I rewrite this paragraph. The house was so loud. There was food everywhere. Children were everywhere. It felt like home.
I have a huge praise for today. Theonette heard from her mother! Her mom SMSed her just this morning and said she would wait to go away until Theonette can come home. I was worried she had dilled herself, but we serve a God much bigger than us, family. Oh, He is so good!
This evening, I was invited to the home of one of the teachers at Dr. Lemmer High School. It is rare for a single person to be invited to a Rehebother’s home for dinner. Especially an American. Especially during the week. The Van Wyk family was so gracious. And it was wonderful to be with a family; eating, talking, cooking, relaxing, even doing the dishes. It made me long for home.
