Most Will Return to Dust

I've been doing some Christmas shopping today. I can't find anything! Nothing is satisfactory. Nothing. I've tried books and trains and gift certificates and shoes and jewelry and journals. Nothing.

Here's what I'm caught at: none of it matters. Solomon was right. Vanity, vanity. All is vanity.

What can we give that will last? Some things tarry, but most will return to dust. The lights and the bows and the ribbon and toys will be forgotten or disposed. Some things will delight the eyes, but all will eventually die. What will live into the years, and will any outlive the giver? What can we carry, what can journey with us?

I don't know.

So what do we have to give?
