Prosperity's Curse

Shopping and buying and consuming and lines and gift cards and credit theme this Advent season. We buy our loved ones and purchase our Christmas joy. Prosperity's lure has been uncovered and revealed as Prosperity's curse.

No, the issue is not how to get Christ back into Christmas, or remembering that Jesus is the "reason for the season." Because what Jesus did is too big to fit a holiday, even a religious one at that; it's too weighty for one season to hold.

Heaven crashed with earth, God Himself wrapped up in the man-flesh of an infant, a baby, a Savior, the King of every king, nursing, crying, cold in the night of a barn...

Tell me one day is to fit all this. Tell me one day, committed to gift-giving and jolly old Saint Nicholas and over-eating and over-consuming is to hold the majesty and mystery of this Jesus.

Tell me. I probably won't believe you.
