No Newness Yet.

We think impatiently on Your goodness - especially at Thanksgiving.
We wait in light of Your hope - especially in this Christmas season.
We prattle on about Your sovereignty - especially we Calvinists.

But just outside our windows, just down the fire escape and right outside our doors lingers the residue of things not good, not hopeful, and they leave us wondering just what happened to Your control.

We have heard and even recited Your promises to make all things new, of Your spring-like Self, bringing life and energy and green into the dark cold of wintery lives.

But, here on our lips and in our hearts; yes, in the very fibers of our beings we are profoundly aware of all the places there is no life, no Springtime, no newness … yet.

So, our good, hopeful, sovereign God, would You come and continue to make all things new? And what's more, would You come and grant us the grace and impatience to wait?
