Where Exactly Are You?

Lord, these stories are familiar to us.

We've heard them from the nursery. And that with gratitude.

We've read of the great kings and the prophets and the cold leaders. And they leave us a bit confused. Because You said we'd find You there in that Old TEstament writ.

We're confused because the great king, with all his strength wouldn't stand up against that sexy girl next door. And that prophet was discouraged and depressed; You even had to remind hi to eat. And that bold leader was a liar and a fake and the man he killed still lies durried in that Egyptian sand.

So, where exactly are You?

There's not much left.

Well… I suppose … there's all those other parts. the parts with blood and shame and suffering of a hellish sort.

You didn't mean that, did You?

We…

Now that's a different story. An entirely different story.

But we don't know how to do that. How do we find You there? Your'e holy. So we're not sure how to look at You in all that blood, You Slaughtered Lamb; in Your shame, You naked victim; in Your elusiveness, You shaddowed character.

You were there weren't You…?

We forgot to look.
