So Much to Like.

Valentine’s Day generally makes me just a bit irritated. I don’t like it, really. I don’t like the color pink. I don’t like cheap chocolate. I don’t like flowers from grocery stores. I don’t like doilies or stickers or pop-up cards.

But …

There are some things I do like about today…

I like morning conversations in the bathroom with Molly. I like the way we fist-pump in the day and give a little dance depending on what music is playing and which of our roommates are still sleeping.

I like new shoes. I like the clickityclick of fresh heels on tile floors.

I like the boy who cooks for me and doesn’t give me girl portions. I like that he lets me be my silly self and build sheet forts in his living room.

I like the pup that is my most adorable valentine and how she cuddles with me.

I like the littles I nanny who made me the most ridiculously precious valentines with pipe cleaners.

I like my classes that remind me that I am united with Christ and that I am to experience and enjoy Him. Forever.

I like that tonight I’ll crawl into Big Bed with my girls and watch a Valentine’s episode of Gilmore Girls. And eat chocolate. And sip tea. And talk about cute boys.

I mean, it’s not so bad I guess. Yes, I grew irritated with the store that ran out of gift boxes. Yes, I was irritated with the massive amounts of pink. And yes, when I saw the flowers in the grocery store I threw up a bit in my mouth.

But this Valentine’s Day, I come away grateful.

There is just so much to like.
