7.18.09

I forgot to mention in my last post that we went to Windhouk for the night. Okay, I didn’t forget. I just figured the post was already long enough.

So we’re spending the weekend here in the city with the Rineer’s (the AIM missionaries from Canada. The one’s I was mad at for screwing up my theology? Remember them?). When we got there dinner was being made and kids were running around like crazy (they have two 13 year old boys, a twelve, four and three year old girls) and Mr. and Mrs. were on their way out for dinner. Now, you’d think that, being really tired from a long week spent with kids, babysitting was the very last thing that we would want to do. But it was completely the opposite. There is just something about sitting around a kitchen table with all those little hands spilling catsup and glasses of water and fighting over the last sausage roll that reminds me of home.

After dinner we watched Little Rascals. And I’m pretty sure there are two kinds of people in the world: those who love Little Rascals and those who don’t get it. If you’re in the first group, then we just bonded on a whole different level. If you’re in the second group, I’m just sorry for you. We snuggled up under lots of blankets and I held two little girls on my lap, constantly having to try to see around their little bouncing heads. We were up late laughing with the older kids, acting like thirteen year olds again. We loved it. “Ohhhhh – taaaaaaay.” Yes, with the finger snap. (sorry group two)
