God, The Establishing One.

There have been seasons in my life where I have experience great fear concerning my salvation. What if I was one of those who falls away? We've heard the horror stories: the Moody students who deny Christ and live radically homosexual lifestyles, the pastors who run away with the secretary, the missionaries that are released from their agency for heretical teaching on the field. What if that would be me? What if that is the narrative of my life that remains unpenned?

This morning I read 2 Corinthians 1:21: "He who established us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God."

Do you see that? The One who has established me (and you if you too are united to Christ) is God! My union with the Son, salvation Himself, the embodiment of all holiness and the very Word of God to us, is based solely on the initiation of the Father. It is the Father who has established us in Christ and has anointed us. It never was me. It never will be me. It was Him all along.

That means, it always will be Him. He brought me to abide. And it is He who keeps me abiding.

Right now. And forever.

And can I get an Amen?
